Arsenal defeated Liverpool 3 – 2 to stay top of the Premier League table but the exciting encounter was marred by the bust-up between Gabriel and Henderson.
The Liverpool captain and Arsenal defender had to be separated by teammates shortly after referee Michael Oliver awarded a penalty to the Gunners.
Arsenal youngster Bukayo Saka stepped up to score from the spot and ultimately give Arsenal the win.
However, referee Michael Oliver had to speak to the duo of Gabriel and Henderson after the match in adherence to the FA and PGMOL protocol.
So far, the FA have not given a concrete verdict on the matter, only stating that they will “review the details of the incident”.
Initial inquiries are expected to take a couple of days where players and staff close to the incident might be contacted for their account of the event.
Furthermore, the FA might employ a lip-reader to determine what was said. However, it remains to be seen if the FA will open a full-blown investigation into the incident.
