The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is leaning towards hiring the German international as a significant part of their preparations for the oncoming World Cup qualifiers in March, according to a report by OwnGoalNigeria.com
Having been led by Austine Eguavoen for the duration of the AFCON qualifiers as the interim coach of the Super Eagles, Eguavoen, however, is expected to return to his initial role as the technical director of the NFF.
So far so good, the Super Eagles are placed 5th from six teams in the World Cup qualifying log—without a win in four games—and with six games to go, trailing leaders Rwanda by four points.
The NFF has therefore taken the ultimate decision to search for a coach that will get the Super Eagle out of their slow start to the qualifying rounds and is now looking to reopen talks with Bruno Labbaddia.
It is believed the NFF are settling for a German because they are very particular about team discipline and organization, which has been a major source of concern since the departure of former coach Gernot Rohr.
