Rangers International FC have continued their squad rebuild ahead of the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season by confirming the signings of midfielder Ifeanyi Assurance from Lobi Stars and defender Monday Daniel from El-Kanemi Warriors.
The Flying Antelopes endured a disappointing campaign last season, finishing 10th on the NPFL table with 52 points and suffering an unprecedented six home defeats – the worst home record in their 55-year history. Determined to bounce back, the eight-time Nigerian champions are reinforcing key areas of their team.
Assurance Becomes Second Player Signed from Lobi Stars
Ifeanyi Assurance’s arrival marks Rangers’ second signing from Lobi Stars this summer. Earlier, winger Oluwasegun Oloruntoba penned a two-year deal to stay with the Enugu side until the end of the 2026/2027 season.
Daniel Arrival to Bolster Rangers’ Defence
Meanwhile, Monday Daniel’s move from El-Kanemi Warriors is expected to bring stability to a leaky Rangers defence, which struggled throughout last season.
“It wasn’t a pleasant campaign for us last term. We finished 10th, but this time, we hope to do much better and reclaim our top position in the league,” a club official told Completesports.com.
“That’s why we’re building a stronger squad with experienced players. We believe the likes of Monday Daniel and Ifeanyi Assurance will add quality and balance to the team,” the official added.
Earlier in the window, Rangers also secured the return of Chidiebere Nwobodo after his one-season spell with Rwandan giants APR FC.
NPFL 2025/2026 Season to Kick Off August 22
The upcoming NPFL season is set to kick off on 22 August 2025, with the Annual General Meeting (AGM) and official draws scheduled for 28 July at the Abuja Continental Hotel (formerly Sheraton Hotel).
With these key signings, Rangers are making a clear statement of intent to return to the top of Nigerian football.
