Olise Beats Kane to Bayern Munich Player of the Season Award
Michael Olise has been voted Bayern Munich’s Player of the Season for the 2024–25 campaign, beating star striker Harry Kane, who finished third in the fan poll despite an impressive goal tally.
Olise, a former Crystal Palace winger, delivered an outstanding debut season in Germany. He scored 17 goals and provided 16 assists in 48 matches across all competitions. His electrifying performances earned him a commanding 44.8% of the total votes, making him the fans’ clear favorite.
Kane’s Bayern Munich Goal Haul Not Enough
Despite finishing as the Bundesliga top scorer for a second straight season with 26 league goals and 41 in all competitions, Harry Kane could only secure 9.4% of the vote. That placed the England captain in third, behind club icon Thomas Müller, who received 18.7%.
Kane’s goals played a crucial role in Bayern reclaiming the Bundesliga title, but fans evidently valued Olise’s flair, creativity, and consistency across multiple competitions.
Kompany Lauds Olise’s Impact
Bayern head coach Vincent Kompany praised Olise’s rapid adaptation and work ethic:
“We signed Michael and had a lot of hope. But it’s not always the case that a player integrates so quickly. I see his hunger every day. He’s a really hard worker. That’s the basis, along with his talent. Nobody doubts he can make the difference, and we absolutely need that.”
Olise’s combination of technical skill, game intelligence, and relentless drive made him a standout figure in a squad packed with elite talent.
Short Break for the Champions
Following their FIFA Club World Cup campaign, Bayern Munich’s squad is currently on a short break before preseason preparations begin. Expectations will be even higher for Olise next season as he continues to flourish under Kompany’s system.
