Pep Guardiola has urged Chelsea to stick with under-fire boss Graham Potter following the 4-0 thrashing of the blues in the FA cup 3rd round.
The London club faced an in-form Manchester City side on Sunday afternoon after failing to beat them in the premier league a couple days ago, with goals from Riyad Mahrez, Phil Foden and Julian Alvarez sealing their qualification to the next round of the FA cup tie.
Manchester City have now beaten Chelsea in three meetings across all competitions this season without conceding a goal, knocking out Graham Potter’s side in the FA cup and the Carabao cup competitions.
With the Blues currently with one win in the past eight games and sitting 10th in the Premier League, fans and pundits have now begun to question the abilities of manager Graham Potter, but Pep Guardiola has come out urging fans and co-owner Todd Boehly, to give the underfire boss time after chants over his sack was heard in the game.
“I would say to Todd Boehly, give him time,” Pep Guardiola said speaking after the FA cup win, “I know in big clubs, results are important but I’d say give him time.
“The second half is what he is. What he’s done at Brighton is outstanding, but… we need time in the first season. I had (Lionel) Messi in Barcelona my first season so I didn’t need two seasons because Messi was there.”
