Kylian Mbappe has reportedly informed French side, Paris Saint-Germain that he will depart the club when his contract expires next summer.

The 24-year-old forward who recently signed a two-year extension has decided not to exercise the final year, which would make him a free agent come next summer.

PSG were taken aback when Kylian Mbappé informed the club’s hierarchy in writing of his intention not to exercise the chance of a one-year contract renewal next summer.

Unless persuaded to stay or negotiate a totally new term, Mbappe will most likely be sold this summer to avoid giving up their greatest asset for nothing.

The news sparked speculation about a potential move to Real Madrid, who have long been admirers of the forward’s talent and this transfer window could see PSG facing a dilemma of whether to sell their star player or risk losing him for free next summer.

“I have never discussed any contract renewal with PSG,” the PSG forward said.

“The board has been informed since July 15th, 2022 of my decision not to extend beyond 2024 — and the letter sent was only meant to confirm what I already told them.”
