For the first time since December, Germany midfielder Leon Goretzka returned to Bayern Munich training on Tuesday, but star striker Robert Lewandowski limped out with a leg injury.
The Poland goal machine has 29 goals in the Bundesliga this season, but was sent to the hospital after miskicking a ball, telling reporters “it hurts a bit.”
The club later confirmed in a statement that Lewandowski, 33, had suffered a “minor injury.”
In Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Hoffenheim, the striker equalized to keep Bayern Munich on track for a seventh consecutive Bundesliga title.
They also advanced to the Champions League quarter-finals last week after a 7-1 thrashing of Salzburg in Munich.
Despite concerns regarding Lewandowski, Goretzka made a much anticipated return from a knee injury.
“That was fun. I’m excited to take the next steps now,” said the 27-year-old midfielder
