UEFA Champions League: Bayern Munich aims to continue 100% start to 22/23 campaign

Bayern Munich will look to strengthen their grip at the summit of Group C when they take on Viktoria Plzen in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night.

Bayern Munich will be hoping to maintain their lead in the Group C of the Champions League groups stage matches when they host Viktoria Plzen at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday night.

Heading into this game, Bayern will be without Thomas Müller and Joshua Kimmich, who have both tested positive for Covid-19.

After becoming disappointed with playing time following his move from Ajax in the summer, Ryan Gravenberch (20) is expected to start alongside Leon Goretzka in midfield, giving Marcel Sabitzer a much needed rest. The Austrian has been excellent this season alongside Kimmich, playing 11 games across all competitions.

We could also see a first Champions League start for 17-year-old Mathys Tel, who has been frequent across all competitions for the German champions. In light of the current injury issues the team has had, his involvement appears to be poised to rise.

The Frenchman arrived from Rennes for €20m in the summer and has already scored two goals in 169 minutes across all competitions.

In attack, Julian Nagelsmann hinted that we could see Sadio Mané, Serge Gnabry and Jamal Musiala all start against Viktoria Plzeň, who are without Pavel Bucha.

Viktoria Plzen are unbeaten in their league campaign so far, have faced a different calibre of opponents in the Champions League, and the results of their fixtures have probably not surprised anyone.

Colombian midfielder Jhon Mosquera, who has featured in the forward line in European competition, will be the key man to look out for in the Czech team’s lineup, having scored five times in six starts from midfield so far this campaign, including in their last league fixture which was a 1-1 draw against Bohemians 1905 on Saturday.
