Bayern Munich set to announce Konrad Laimer following free transfer from RB Leipzig

Reports from Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg has confirmed that Konrad Laimer's deal to join Bayern Munich has been completed.

The RB Leipzig midfielder – who is set to join the Bavarians on a four-year deal, just recently completed his medicals with the German giants with he only detail left being an official announcement.

The midfielder is set to become the fourth Austrian to play for Bayern Munich and is set to compete with the likes of Leon Goretzka, Joshua Kimmich and Ryan Gravenberch for a spot in central midfield.

The deal has reportedly been completed as far back as January and is set to take effect immediately after the 2022/23 season ends.

Konrad Laimer joined RB Leipzig from RB Salzburg in 2017 and has gone on to play over 120 matches for the club.

It remains to be seen whether Bayern new coach Thomas Tuchel is as much a fan of the Austrian as Julian Nagelsmann was.

Bayern Munich currently sit first in Bundesliga, but could see an end to their run in the Champions League after suffering a heavy 3 – 0 defeat to English Champions Manchester City in their first-leg tie.
