Super Eagles B Gear Up for African Nations Championship 2025

CHAN 2024, Ogunmodede Invites 26 Players For Final Preparation In Ikenne

Ahead of the highly anticipated 8th African Nations Championship (CHAN) finals in February, Nigeria’s Super Eagles B are preparing for their toughest challenge yet.

Stand-in Head Coach Daniel Ogunmodede has named a strong squad for a closed-camp training session at the Remo Stars Sports Institute in Ikenne-Remo, which kicks off on January 6, 2025.

The squad includes key players like team captain Nduka Harrison Junior, goalkeeper Henry Ozoemena, defenders Sadiq Ismail, Ifeanyi Onyebuchi, midfielder Saviour Isaac, and forward Sikiru Alimi. Also included are standout names such as goalkeeper Kayode Bankole, defenders Imo Obot and Stephen Manyo, midfielders Musa Zayyad, Rabiu Ali, Papa Daniel Mustapha, and forwards Adamu Abubakar and Emmanuel Ogbole.

This closed-camping exercise follows an exciting qualification process, where the Super Eagles B made history by defeating Ghana’s Black Galaxies 3-1 in Uyo last week, securing their spot at the prestigious CHAN tournament after a goalless draw in Accra six days prior.

The 8th edition of the African Nations Championship will feature 18 teams, including co-hosts Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda. This tournament will not only serve as a showcase for African footballing talent but also give the host nations a chance to test their facilities and operations ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations. Scheduled for February 1-28, the CHAN finals will be a significant stepping stone for the host nations as they gear up for the next major continental tournament.
