Manchester City are champions of England following Gunners’ loss to Nottingham Forest

Premier League champions
Manchester City have retained their status as Premier League champions for the third successive season following Arsenal's 1 - 0 loss to Nottingham Forest.

The Gunners needed at least a draw to give them a mathematical chance of winning the league before City’s match with Chelsea on Sunday evening. However, a Taiwo Awoniyi goal in the 19th-minute of the game was enough for Pep Guardiola’s side to win their first title of the season.

With the win over Arsenal, Nottingham Forest are safe from relegation as Everton, Leeds United and Leicester City can no longer finish above them.

Mikel Arteta’s side have gone on a bad spell in the league, earning just nine points from their last eight league matches.

Manchester City have won five of the last six Premier League titles, a testament to their dominance over the last decade.

They have also qualified for the FA Cup and UEFA Champions League final as they aim for the treble this season.
