See what Awoniyi means about Grace after his strike for Nottingham Forest against West Ham.
Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi scored a goal against Nottingham Forest and celebrated it in a very special way.
Famous for his Christian convictions, Awoniyi further demonstrated his spiritual values by taking off his shirt to expose a Bible verse printed plainly on it.
Awoniyi scored past Alphonso Areola in the last moments of the first half of the City Ground Stadium encounter against West Ham by taking advantage of a pass from Nicolas Dominguez.
Awoniyi on Grace
He posted a photo of the message that said, “Kilen F’olorun pe. In all darkness time, you became the light, Yeshua is lifted high”
Along with the photos was a message that said, “We have come this far by Grace🙏🏿forever the greatest 🙏🏿
“Thank you our famous city ground ❤️You reds.”
Awoniyi was spotted giving testimony in a church after Nottingham Forest’s successful campaign to avoid relegation from the English Football League, thanking God for his team’s accomplishment.
As part of his joyful celebration, he took off his shirt to display Ecclesiastes 12:13, a passage from the Bible that exhorts believers to have faith in God.
The Reds’ next game is against Villa Park, and Awoniyi will aim to steer his side further clear of the relegation zone.
