Today’s Hot Gist: Madrid swoop for Bellingham, as Messi faces PSG exit

Today's Hot Gist
In the first episode of our new series, we present the hottest gist in the world of Football for Wednesday, May 3rd, 2023.

It seemed like another regular day until the King of Transfer News and Lord of the Transfer Market, Mr. Fabrizio Romano tweeted at about 1:53 PM Nigerian time that Liverpool and Manchester City target, Jude Bellingham, could be on a flight to Spain’s capital come the summer.

This news sent shock waves round the football world, and many bitter Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City fans took to social media to share their displeasure at the latest development. One angry Liverpool fan quoted Mr. Romano’s tweet, describing Fenway Sports Group, Liverpool’s owners as the worst owners in history, while another Manchester United fan lamented his club’s knack for beating around the bush and ending up with expensive flops at the end of the day.

Once again, 14-time UEFA Champions League winners have come from nowhere to steal one of football’s brightest prospects and could well be on course to another decade of dominance with young talents like Aurelien Tchouameni, Edouardo Camavinga, Vinicius Jr. and Rodrygo Goes.

While we were still digesting the Bellingham news, Romano tweeted that the man described by many as football’s G.O.A.T(Greatest of All Time), Lionel Messi, would be leaving Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season.

The 2022 World Cup winner was suspended earlier in the week for travelling to Saudi Arabia without the club’s permission and the suspension is expected to last for the duration of two weeks.

It remains to be seen where the for Barcelona forward will be playing his football come August, although many expect him to make a move back home to Argentina or to Saudi Arabia.

While some football fans took the opportunity to help their clubs shoot at arguably the greatest footballer of all-time, many others sought to slate the transfer as one of the worst in the history of the game.
