Osimhen was an unused substitute in Napoli 1-1 draw with Serie A table toppers Inter Milan at the weekend after he failed a late fitness test.
According to Football Italia, the striker is suffering from the recurrence of a previous injury, with an inflammation of a previous scar.
Osimhen will now have to continue his recovery at the Castel Volturno for at least two weeks to regain his full fitness.
Injury has already ruled out Empoli defender Tyronne Ebuehi, while Taiwo Awoniyi and Gabriel Osho are major injury doubts.
