Werder Bremen offer contract extension to Super Eagles eligible defender amidst interest from other clubs

Four-time Bundesliga Champions, Werder Bremen, have proposed a contract extension to Nigeria-eligible defender, Felix Agu, Ballgist NIG. reports.

The versatile full-back played in 24 of Werder’s 34 games in the Bundesliga last season, playing a crucial part in the team’s campaign as they narrowly missed out on European spots.

Agu joined Die Werderaner in 2020 and signed a contract extension in 2022. The extension meant he’ll continue his career at the Wohninvest Stadion till the summer of 2025. As the season approaches, Agu will enter the final year of his contract with the six-time DFB Pokal winners.

As per Fabrizio Romano, Ole Werner’s side have proposed a new deal to the full-back, as he’s beginning to receive from bigger sides in the Bundesliga and clubs outside the country.

Since joining Werder from VfL Osnabrück in 2020, Felix Agu has played 72 games for Werder Bremen, scoring two goals and providing seven assists. His versatility is one of his biggest assets. The 24-year-old can play as a right-back, left-back, across both flanks up-front and as a central midfielder.

Born in Osnabruck, Germany, Felix Agu is eligible to represent the Super Eagles as he’s of Nigerian descent. He has represented the German U-21 team twice in his career.
