Fabio Carvalho played 61 minutes in Liverpool’s 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest on Saturday squandering one golden opportunity. The 20-year-old had just 28 touches in his 61 minutes on the pitch for the Reds before he was replaced by Jordan Henderson.
This was Carvalho’s second Premier League start since joining Klopp’s squad.
However, Agbonlahor has stated that he is not yet ready for the big team, claiming that Liverpool should have sent him out on loan somewhere this summer instead of putting him in the senior squad right away.
He told talkSPORT: “Carvalho doesn’t look like he’s Premier League quality. Looks like he needs another season out on loan. Doesn’t look ready.”
Many might disagree with Agbonlahor’s opinion because the former Fulham starlet has already outperformed some of his Liverpool teammates this season. His late goal against Newcastle United remains one of the Reds highlights of the season and with Jurgen Klopp on his side, he can prove his doubters wrong.
Liverpool travel to the Netherlands to face Ajax in the UEFA Champions League before hosting Leeds over the weekend.
