Manchester United Sack Erik Ten Hag

Manchester United have sacked manager Erik ten Hag following the club’s lacklustre start to the season, the fallen Premier League giants announced Monday.

The Red Devils announced in an official statement that the manager had been relieved of his duties on Monday

The Red Devils have won just three of their first nine Premier League matches and currently sit 14th in the Premier League table on 11 points.

Manchester United were unlucky to concede a late penalty in a 2-1 loss against West Ham on Sunday with referee David Coote taking a long time to award a spot-kick after a Matthijs de Ligt challenge on Danny Ings.

To the horror of Ten Hag and his Man Utd players the penalty was given, with the result proving the last more pressure on the Dutchman, who has now been sacked.

Erik was appointed in April 2022 and led the club to two domestic trophies, winning the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024.

Ruud van Nistelrooy will take charge of the team as interim head coach whilst United look to recruit a permanent successor to Ten Hag. The legendary United striker will lead the team for Wednesday’s game at home to Leicester City in the Carabao Cup.

Former Barcelona boss Xavi has been heavily linked over the last week with a potential move to Old Trafford to replace Ten Hag.
