Flying Eagles forward Kparobo Ariehi has joined Norwegian OBOS-ligaen club Mjøndalen on loan until 2025 in a move designed to accelerate his development with regular game time.
The 18-year-old attacker, who only signed for Norwegian giants Lillestrøm in January from Beyond Limits Academy, will now gain crucial experience in the country’s competitive second tier.
Why the Loan Move Was Necessary was for the Flying Eagles Forward?
Lillestrøm sporting director Simon Mesfin explained the decision:
“We have decided it’s right to loan KP to Mjøndalen. They just sold their best striker, and KP needs consistent minutes in the OBOS league to continue his development. This will also aid his work permit extension and potential participation in the U20 World Cup later this year.”
Boost for Club and Country
The loan spells good news for both Mjøndalen, who gain a promising young forward, and for Nigeria’s Flying Eagles, as Ariehi will be match-fit ahead of the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup in September/October.
Ariehi was part of the squad that featured at the2025 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations in Egypt, starting four of six matches and scoring one goal during the tournament.
