Aston Villa manager believes Dejan Kulusevski is set to become a top player at Tottenham Hotspur. The former Liverpool midfielder saw his Villa side suffer a humiliating 4 – 0 loss to top four chasing Spurs who continued in their rich vein of form. Son Heung-Min scored a hat-trick with Kulusevski getting the other goal as Harry Kane had a hand in three of the goals.
Son Heung-Min got an early goal as Spurs looked to set the tone of the match. However, Aston Villa responded with a very intense approach, limiting the Tottenham players to hasty decisions and few seconds on the ball. They created chances, but could not find a way past Hugo Lloris and were made to pay. Kulusevski who arrived on loan from Juventus has registered 3 goals and 6 assists in just 11 PL appearances since joining the North London side.
He has slotted in seamlessly in the Tottenham team, cementing himself as an important member of a deadly trio. It is not just his stats that have caught the eye. His decision making, willingness to track back, speed on the counter and natural understanding of the game have made him a valuable asset to Conte since his arrival.
In an interview with Football London, Gerrard hailed the established duo of Son and Kane, and went further to recognize Kulusevski as a young talent.
“They’ve got two world class players up top and the young lad from Juventus who could certainly be a top player,” said Gerrard.
