Bondo leaves AC MIlan shaken and stirred in shock defeat

Loftus Cheek at Full Time against Monza
AC Milan blew the chance to move above Juventus into second in the Serie A table, after losing 4-2 late on at AC Monza in a rollercoaster clash. This ends their nine-game unbeaten league run in dramatic fashion.

AC Milan had a nightmare evening against their Lombardy neighbours Monza as they conceded twice late on to lose 4-2 in a dramatic encounter at the U-Power Stadium.

The Rossoneri’s fine start to 2024 was ended as they slipped to a shock 4-2 defeat against Lombardy-based rivals Monza therefore leaving the Italian giants in third place and two points behind Juventus and 11 behind leaders Inter.

A drab first half sprung into life during stoppage time as a much-changed Milan side was punished twice in quick succession.

A clumsy Thiaw challenge gave Monza a penalty on 45 minutes, allowing captain Pessina to coolly slot home and give the hosts a surprise lead.

A ROLLERCOASTER SECOND HALF FOR AC MILAN

After a triple substitution at half time Milan looked much more like themselves but their task was made more difficult after Luka Jovic was dismissed for a petulant off the ball scuffle.

However, with Christian Pulisic, Olivier Giroud on the field Milan made a game of it as the former set up the latter to half the deficit on 64 minutes.

The comeback was finally completed in 88 minutes as Pulisic cut inside and smashed an effort into the top corner.

But, the celebrations were short-lived as moments later substitute Warren Bondo curled in a superb strike to restore the home side’s lead in stoppage time.

And then, Milan loanee Lorenzo Colombo put the final dagger in Rossoneri’s hearts to seal a memorable first-ever top-flight victory for Monza against tonight’s opponents. The win was Monza’s first against AC Milan in the topflight and their first against top half opposition this season.
