Borussia Dortmund Boss Edin Terzic Brushes Off Eddie Howe’s Critique of Newcastle with ‘Not Many

Edin Terzic responds to  Eddie Howe’s claim: “Borussia Dortmund haven’t seen the best of  Newcastle United in the Champions League .”

Despite going nine games without a loss domestically, Newcastle has lost both at home and away to Dortmund without scoring any goals.

With a worse head-to-head record against Dortmund, the 2-0 loss at Signal Iduna Park puts The Magpies in a vulnerable spot in Group F, three points outside the qualification spots.

“Very similar to Dortmund last month,” Howe told The Gazette. “A frustration on our performance knowing there is more in the tank to give. We’re better than that and can show a better version of ourselves than we did

“I don’t think Dortmund have seen the best Newcastle and that always leaves a feeling of frustration. But we accept it, we’ve delivered it and we have to look to the future now.”
Newcastle’s next Champions League match is away to Paris Saint-Germain. They will host AC Milan at St. James’ Park the following month to wrap up their group stage campaign.

Regarding Howe’s remarks that during the course of two games, Dortmund did not witness Newcastle at their best, Edin Terzic said: “A great achievement for us because we didn’t let it happen.

“This is something we tried to stop and we’ve managed that quite well, especially today.”

Joelinton missed a clear chance for Newcastle in the second half when Tino Livramento crossed the ball, and in the closing moments, Julian Brandt added to Niclas Fullkurg’s goal to seal three points.

“In the second half, it was a very dominant game from Newcastle but I think we defended well, attacked really well, used every open space for us and I think it was a well deserved win,” Terzic added.

“It’s a great compliment for our team that we’ve kept two clean sheets against Newcastle, this is something that not many teams manage to do. We’re really happy with both games.”
