Chelsea willing to cut short Denis Zakaria’s loan deal in January

The defensive midfielder joined Chelsea on loan from Juventus in a somewhat last-minute deal, especially given that he had only joined the Serie A powerhouse in January.

A season-long loan deal with an option to buy worth €30 million if Chelsea were to trigger the buy option. But since moving to the Premier League club, the situation has not panned out the way Zakaria would’ve liked.

And now, according to Daniele Longo, Chelsea are ready to terminate the loan deal for Zakaria in January, which means that the player will return to Juventus in the next winter transfer window.

Longo claims that Juve don’t know about Chelsea’s intention to end the deal six months early as they have not been informed yet. But it can be assumed that the Italian side would not be happy about the decision since they remain hopeful of getting the €3 million bonus, which is understood to be paid by the Blues as part of the Zakaria deal.

Zakaria hasn’t played a single minute for Chelsea since Graham Potter joined the team. Therefore, the English side is confident that the loan deal will end in January, with the player still under contract to Juventus till June 2026.
