Cole Palmer participated actively in the entire game and came dangerously close to scoring another with an individual run reminiscent of Eden Hazard’s.
While he sought to eavesdrop on City’s late team meeting, he also made an effort to get back at his old teammates.
It was Palmer’s first appearance against City since securing a move away from the Treble winners in favour of the West Londoners during the summer transfer window.
Palmer has since lifted the lid on that incident, which saw Erling Haaland push him away roughly, as he told reporters on Wednesday:

The English boy has contributed to eight goals for Chelsea this season in 11 games. With four assists, he and compatriot Conor Gallagher leads the team in assists.
The Chelsea forward was a key member of the Three Lions’ victorious Under-21 World Cup run in July, and he has made numerous youth appearances for England.
On November 17 and November 20, respectively, when they play Malta and North Macedonia, he will try to play his debut minutes under Gareth Southgate.
