Eden Hazard names the five best players he played with in his career

Eden Hazard gives the names of five of the best players he called teammates during his career, and three of them played for Chelsea.

Though his time at the top of the game didn’t last as long as it probably should have, Eden Hazard will surely be remembered as an all-time great, not only in the Premier League but in world football.

The Belgian winger was one of the most exciting and lethal attackers of his generation, something he proved during his seven years at Chelsea.

The winger twice won the Premier League title with the London club, before he departed for Real Madrid in 2019.

Injuries plagued his time at the Bernabeu, but Hazard still managed to win the La Liga and the Champions League while representing Los Blancos before then retiring from professional football last year.

The attacker has a stacked medal collection, but he wouldn’t have won what he did without the help of some world-class teammates, according to him.

In a recent appearance on the Obi One Podcast, hosted by Hazard’s former Chelsea teammate Mikel John Obi, the ex-Premier League star was asked to name the five best players he ever played with.

“In Real Madrid, I played with the best players in the world,” Hazard said during the podcast.

“For me [Luka] Modric, [Karim] Benzema, they are top top of the list.

“When you say Kevin De Bruyne, he’s top on the list, when you say [Frank] Lampard he’s top of the list, Juan Mata for me was top of the list.”

If any further proof that Chelsea made a mistake in selling Kevin de Bruyne was needed, then Hazard has provided it.

De Bruyne’s achievements with Manchester City make it easy to criticise Chelsea with the benefit of hindsight, but Hazard admitted that his countryman was already top quality during his brief spell at Stamford Bridge.

De Bruyne made just nine appearances for Jose Mourinho’s side in 2013/14, before leaving the club for Wolfsburg in January 2014. 18 months later City signed him and the rest is history.
