Denzel Dumfries feels “flattered” by links to Chelsea

Denzel Dumfries has spoken about Chelsea's interest in him during an interview after Netherlands beat the USA.

Following an awe-inspiring season with rumours of several interests from top clubs in the top five European leagues, Inter Milan ace Denzel Dumfries looks to have sparked more interest from the media after dropping another impressive performance when Netherlands beat USA to advance to the quarter-finals of the World Cup.

The Inter Milan star assisted the first two Dutch goals before scoring the third in a superb all-round performance making him one of three players to have been directly involved in three or more goals in a single match at the FIFA World Cup for Netherlands.

Speaking to David Ornstein of the Athletic after The Netherlands 3-1 win against the USA, Denzel Dumfries had this to say about the links to Chelsea,

“Of course it’s a big compliment to be linked with Chelsea, but playing for Inter it’s big compliment too”

“Chelsea move in January? I’m focused on nothing else but national team and Inter”.

Dumfries is a target for Chelsea, and his performance against the United States could be a defining moment in whether Chelsea moves for him.

The 26-year-old defender is likely to be open to a move and will be available for around £35million after such an impressive season he’s had at the Nerazzurri.
