Fans bemoans Andre Onana’s risky turns at half way line in the Galatasaray clash

Andre Onana blocked out Galatasaray's feisty atmosphere by pulling off a cheeky turn right by the halfway line for Manchester United.

Erik ten Hag’s side scored two goals in 18 minutes to take the lead away in a rain-hit Istanbul in their crucial Champions League clash that must not lose if they want to stay in the competition.

Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes both scored with fine strikes, but Hakim Ziyech was on hand to hit back for the hosts with a low free kick.

United dominated in the opening stages but soon the momentum swung in the favour of Galatasaray as they chased an equaliser.

Despite the impending pressure, Onana was not shy to pull off a piece of skill that would have left many with their hearts in their mouths.

A United chance was cleared and the goalkeeper controlled the ball up by the halfway line before turning to evade the onrushing Ziyech.

Fans on social media loved what they saw from the Cameroonian as one on X said: “We can all learn from Onana and his nonchalance.”

“That midfield pirouette from Onana was simply majestic. And his right wing ball almost set up a clinical counter attack,” said a second.

A third hinted at a potential position change, adding: “I think we should start Onana in midfield.”

“Onana that was ice cold,” a fourth simply said as they revelled in Onana’s unlikely bit of skill.

United were very close to heading into half-time level, only to be saved by the offside flag for Mauro Icardi’s run and finish.

However, Scott McTominay found the target ten minutes into the second-half to restore their two-goal advantage.

Onana was under the spotlight again just minutes later though as he failed to keep out another Ziyech free-kick, and then Kerem Akturkoglu fired in to make it 3-3.
