Tonight in Accra, Ghana, the Flying Eagles of Nigeria faced a 2-1 defeat against Uganda in their opening match at the 13th African Games.
The Nigeria U20s encountered an early setback when Kizza Usama scored the opening goal in the 34th minute.
However, just three minutes later, the Flying Eagles managed to equalize the score with a powerful header by Sadiq Isiyaka, capitalizing on a well-placed ball into the box.
The Young Ugandan Cranes proved they meant business when Ivan Irinimbabazi restored the lead for them after poor goalkeeping by Samuel James 10 minutes to the end of regulation time.
It was a disappointing start for coach Ladan Bosso’s team as they now look towards the game against Senegal to get their campaign back on track.
Senegal beat South Sudan 1-0 in their own opening Group B clash.
