NFF ends contract extension talks with Peseiro, declares his position vacant

Super Eagles immediate past coach - Gernot Rohr
The Nigeria's Football Federation has announced that they are ready to receive applications for the position of head coach of the super eagles team.

Nigeria’s Football Governing Body (NFF) has declared the position of the head coach of the senior team ‘vacant’, following a deadlock in talks to extend the deal of Jose Peseiro, who just left the position.

Peseiro’s contract ran out in the summer and an agreement to extend the deal wasn’t reached before it’s expiration.

Unfortunately, both the NFF and the representatives of the Portuguese manager failed to reach an agreement on the wage that the coach would earn, even after leading the Super Eagles team to the AFCON final.

An improved offer was sent to his representative earlier after he had left his position in a figure around the range of $80,000/month as an improved offer from an initial $50,000/month, as opposed to his financial demand of about $120,000/month.

In response to his inability to come to terms with this improved offer, the NFF has therefore declared his position vacant and called for interested candidates to apply, as well as, the position of coach of the U17 team.

The announcement was made via social media by the federation’s football governing body;

Deadlines for application is set to end by 6 pm Tuesday, March 12, 2024, and submissions are to be made at the office of the General Secretary of the federation.

Applications can be sent via email to jobs@thenff.com or you can access them via link “www.thenff.com/jobs”.
