NFF to offer Jose Peseiro new contract as search for a new manager lingers

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) are in talks with Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro over a new contract.

In an exclusive revelation, the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) has made a new contract extension offer to Jose Peseiro following the expiration of his contract.

The Portuguese manager and the federation’s football governing body, the NFF, failed to reach an agreement before his deal with the Super Eagles ran down; however, sources have revealed there were negotiations going on between both parties, with the major issue in delay as a result of the financial demands for the 53-year-old and his backroom staff.

Despite already announcing via , formerly known as Twitter, that he had discontinued his deal as coach of the Super Eagles following the Nations Cup final exit, Peseiro would be only interested in remaining the team’s manager if the terms of his contract were heavily improved on.

It is rumoured that if the deal goes through, the Portuguese could stay with the Super Eagles beyond the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

A new offer from the NFF, reportedly worth $80,000 per month, has been lodged with the representative; however, there is every sense of reasoning he would wait to study offers from clubs and countries before making a final decision on the job to take.
