Folarin Balogun set to join Reims on loan

Reims are set to sign Folarin Balogun on loan, despite offers from Premier League clubs.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the forward is close to a move to the Ligue 1 side as competition for a place in the Arsenal forward line remains high with the signing of Gabriel Jesus and the renewal of Eddie Nketiah’s contract.

After spending the first half of the season playing for Mikel Arteta and signing a new contract, Balogun was sent on loan to Middlesbrough in January. During his time at Riverside Stadium, he notched three goals and as many assists, and he will now look to expand his experience at the highest level.

Balogun’s probable move to Reims has just recently come to light because the French team was looking to strengthen their attack following the departure of Hugo Ekitike to PSG. Balogun was the exact option they were looking for to take the position of the French sensation, and they are now getting closer to signing him on loan.

Fulham and other Premier League teams have shown interest in signing Balogun. The 21-year-old, though, is focused on joining Reims since he would have a greater chance of getting regular playing time at the French club.
