Harvey Barnes Joins Newcastle United from Leicester City

Newcastle United has secured the services of 25-year-old winger Harvey Barnes from Leicester City, with the transfer fee remaining undisclosed.

However, reliable sources suggest the deal is valued at approximately £39 million. Barnes has signed a contract with the Magpies extending until 2028 as the club aims to bolster their squad ahead of the upcoming UEFA Champions League campaign.

“I’m delighted,” Barnes said.

“It’s an amazing club and for me it’s a massive opportunity to come and be involved in a successful team that’s doing exciting things, so I’m absolutely buzzing to be here”.

“I think it’s an attacker’s dream to come into a team like this; it’s high-paced, it’s physically demanding, but you can see the rewards of that with the chances and the goals scored, so I think I’ll certainly suit the style.”

Despite scoring an impressive 13 goals for Leicester City last season, Harvey Barnes couldn’t prevent the team from suffering relegation to the Championship. Nevertheless, he had some notable achievements during his time at the King Power Stadium, including winning the FA Cup and earning a cap for the England national team.

Barnes has now joined Newcastle United, becoming their third summer signing. The Magpies had previously secured midfielder Sandro Tonali from AC Milan and teenage forward Yankuba Minteh from Odense, who will be loaned to Feyenoord for the upcoming season.

“Harvey is an exciting talent who I have admired for a long time so I’m delighted to welcome him to Newcastle United,” Magpie manager Eddie Howe says

“He is strong, quick and very good technically, and he showed last season in particular that he has an eye for goal from wide positions”

“He will add a different element to our play and we look forward to working with him as we prepare for the season ahead.”
