Karim Benzema may sit out Getafe fixture after missing training

Although featuring in the games against Shakhtar Donetsk and Osasuna, Benzema may face another time off in other to be freshly prepared for the return leg at the Olympic National Sports Complex, Kyiv and the El clasico.

Karim Benzema is expected to miss Real Madrid‘s trip to Getafe this weekend, according to Marca, after missing in training on Friday.

The Frenchman has not trained with his team-mates on the eve of the match against Getafe in order to be at 100% for next week’s double-header against Shakhtar Donetsk and Barcelona.

Speaking ahead of the match earlier today, Coach Ancelotti was quoted saying, “he [Karim Benzewma] has played 90 minutes in two matches in a row. He might be rested tomorrow, but he’s not yet ruled out for tomorrow, so if he is fine tomorrow morning then he can play the match. He was the key to last season’s success and can be the key again. I think we’ll see the same Karim as always. I’m not worried about his form.”

Benzema played all 90 minutes against Shakhtar in the Champions League on Wednesday after coming back from injury last Sunday against Osasuna.

He had scored four goals before picking up an injury in their first Champions League game this campaign against Celtic in Glasgow.

He’s however expected to feature in the Getafe’s game but there are no guarantees about what Coach Ancelotti may decide.
