Manchester United provides injury update on Marcus Rashford

Marcus Rashford is set to miss a few games due to the injury suffered against Everton in the Premier League last weekend.

Marcus Rashford will be absent from the club’s upcoming match against Sevilla later this evening due to an injury he suffered during the game against Everton.

The 25-year-old footballer has had an outstanding performance for the Red Devils throughout the 2022-23 season scoring a total of 28 goals and assisting 10 times in all competitions.

The striker had to leave the field in the closing stages of the match right after providing an assist to Anthony Martial for their second goal leaving Ten Hag worried about the injury.

Initial reports speculated that the injury was located in his groin which could have led to him missing the remainder of the season. However, Manchester United has officially confirmed that Rashford will miss “a few games” including Thursday’s European clash with Sevilla.

Nevertheless, the club is optimistic that Rashford will return for the season run-in which is excellent news for the Red Devils as they are still in contention in three competitions.

“Marcus Rashford will be unavailable for Thursday’s UEFA Europa League quarter-final game against Sevilla because of a muscle injury,” read the club’s statement on Wednesday morning.

“The forward was withdrawn in the 80th minute of Saturday’s 2-0 Premier League win over Everton at Old Trafford and immediately headed to the dressing room for treatment”.

“Subsequent assessment of the injury suggested that Marcus will be unavailable for a few games, but is expected to be back for the season run-in.”

In addition to missing the game against Sevilla, Rashford will also be absent from Manchester United’s upcoming match against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League and the second leg of their Europa League fixture against Sevilla next week.

He is also unlikely to be available for the FA Cup semi-final against Brighton & Hove Albion on April 23, as indicated in the statement issued by Manchester United.

However, Anthony Martial has made a swift recovery from his hip injury and the French striker could make a comeback to the starting lineup for the Thursday match against Sevilla.
