Match Preview: Dortmund vs Manchester City – Team News, Predicted XI

Borussia Dortmund welcomes Manchester City for a crucial UEFA Champions League (UCL) match that promises to be exciting.

Three teenagers (Jude Bellingham, Giovanni Reyna, and Youssoufa Moukoko) scored for the same team in a single game for the first time in Bundesliga history as BVB’s young players destroyed Stuttgart 5-0 last weekend. This exciting team is now looking to exact revenge for their cruel UCL group stage exit on H2H goal difference last season.

Dortmund have performed well in the UCL group stage this season (W2, D1, L1), though that one loss came against City in the reverse fixture (2-1).

Since they have a better head-to-head record than their fellow Group G rivals Sevilla and Copenhagen, the Germans only need two points from their final two games to ensure their Round of 16 qualification.

The visitors are not under as much pressure because they have already guaranteed their place in the knockout rounds with two games remaining (W3, D1). We shouldn’t anticipate complacency from the English juggernauts who have lost just two of their past 27 games at this stage (W20, D5), as manager Pep Guardiola will be aware that avoiding defeat here will see his City side qualify in top spot.

Due to a calf injury, Dortmund was forced to substitute Nico Schlotterbeck in the second half of the match against Stuttgart. The Germany defender is unlikely to recover in time to play against Man City on Tuesday.

Thomas Meunier, Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, Mateu Morey, Mahmoud Dahoud, and Sebastien Haller are out, but Terzic is hoping that Donyell Malen and Marco Reus will be available again after missing the weekend victory due to illness and a knock, respectively.
