Premier League club Nottingham Forest claimed Ola Aina played with injury for the Super Eagles in the 2023 AFCON Final.
Nigeria lost 2-1 to hosts Cote d’Ivoire in the AFCON Final game held at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Abidjan.
“Ola Aina was injured in the AFCON semis and played the final with this injury, but wasn’t great,” said Nottingham Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santos.
The fullback let in Simon Adingra to deliver the cross for Sebastian Haller to fire home the championship winner.
The Forest manager further said a return date for the defender has yet to be ascertained.
