Super Eagles of Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen has reached a significant milestone on social media.

Osimhen, the highest-paid Nigerian footballer, has now garnered an impressive one million followers on Elon Musk’s X platform.

This achievement comes hot on the heels of the Super Eagles securing a spot in the finals of AFCON 2023, thanks to their hard-fought victory over South Africa’s Bafana Bafana.

Super Eagles triumphed after 120 minutes of action after being forced into penalties with goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali stealing the headlines after two heroic saves.

Throughout the tournament in Ivory Coast, Osimhen has been a standout performer for the Nigerian national team.

Despite registering one goal and one assist so far, his passion, resilience, and work ethic have earned him praise from teammates and supporters alike.

Now, with his growing influence extending beyond the pitch, Osimhen joins the ranks of Nigeria’s football elite in the realm of social media presence.

For most of 2023, Osimhen had been stuck on 887,000 followers on X, despite his on-field achievements and remarkable year at club level.

However, heading into the AFCON 2023 which began in January 2024, the Napoli striker had already crossed the 900,000 follower-mark, and Wednesday night’s victory against South Africa was enough to push his followership to 1 million, as he needed roughly about 6,000 followers to clinch that figure, hours before the encounter.

As they vie for their fourth African title and first since 2013, Osimhen’s presence both on and off the field serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration for the Super Eagles.

Victory in the finals would not only underscore Nigeria’s status as a footballing powerhouse but also perhaps solidify Osimhen’s legacy as one of the nation’s all-time greats.
