Osimhen running out the clock to be fit in time to face Lookman’s Atalanta

Serie A defending champions Napoli have given a much needed update on the fitness condition of Victor Osimhen ahead of the fixture against Ademola Lookman’s Atalanta at the Diego Maradona Stadium this weekend.

The Nigerian striker failed to represent his parent country during this international break for the games against Ghana and Mali dues to fitness concerns.

Osimhen trained separately on Monday at the Konami Training centre, as Napoli continued their preparation for this weekend’s Serie A clash with Atalanta.

The 25-year-old was an unused substitute in Napoli’s most recent Serie A encounter with Inter Milan, which ended in a 1-1 draw, and manager Francesco Calzona disclosed prior to the game that the striker was struggling to recover from a previous injury sustained.

As published on Napoli’s official website, Osimhen is still undergoing individual training ahead of the visit of Atalanta.

Napoli are currently occupying the seventh position in the table with 45 points, two less than sixth place Atalanta.

Osimhen has mustered eleven goals in this season’s Serie A but has not found the net in open play against teams in the top half of the table.

He is expected to join full team training in the days ahead as the Partenopei continue their preparation for the game.
