Inter Legend Julio Cesar when speaking to La Gazzetta Dello Sport, has revealed he’s still asked how he managed to pull off the save against Lionel Messi in the semifinals of the 2010 Champions League Semi-final.
The Nerazzurri will be preparing a faceoff against the Catalans at the Nou Camp on Wednesday night after seeing out a victory last week at San Siro, thanks to a lone goal from Hakan Çalhanoğlu.
The ex-Brazilian international believes current Inter Milan shot-stopper, Andre Onana needs no suggestion ahead of the clash at Camp Nou.
While in goal back in the 2009/10 season when they had won the treble, Inter had triumphed over Barcelona after several standout individual and stellar team performances from the players ensured they got the better off a Pep Guardiola side, who at the time was regarded as the best team in the world.
Speaking to La Gazzetta Dello Sport, he said “I don’t know if it was the best one, but it is surely the most famous and important. Everyone remembers it. Still today, people ask me how I managed to do it,” he said while speaking to La Gazzetta Dello Sport.”
When asked whether he sees any similarity between that match and the clash against the Catalonians on Wednesday, he responded saying:
“This is a different game, we can’t put a semifinal and a group-stage game on the same level. Obviously, Inter will have to keep their nerves as we did.
“I think Inter need a solid performance, with organization, and can even play to win. They’ll have some chances and will have to make the most of them. They will suffer for sure, but they’ll have to resist.”
