Wolves receive Julen Lopetegui boost as Sevilla eye replacement

Julen Lopetegui
Sevilla are set to cut ties with Julen Lopetegui after a poor start to the 2022/23 season.

Argentine coach Jorge Sampaoli – who left Marseille this summer, has been linked with a move back to Sevilla.

Reports in Spain suggest that Sevilla’s match with Dortmund will be Lopetegui’s last match in charge of Sevilla.

Lopetegui’s imminent departure bodes well for Wolves who have identified the former Spain and Real Madrid coach as the right replacement for Bruna Lage.

Julen Lopetegui was linked to a move to Wolves in 2016 shortly after Fosun bought the club but he opted to manage the Spanish national team.

Julen Lopetegui will bring a wealth of experience to Wolves having coached some top teams over the past couple of years.

Even though Wolves are keen on Lopetegui, they have identified Danish coach Bo Svensson as an alternative to the Spaniard.
