However, the 27-year-old is set to spend the rest of the season on the sidelines following a delicate knee injury on his first game for Porto following his return from AFCON.

Per journalist, Zach Lowy, the injury and duration were confirmed by Porto manager Sergio Conceicao during his post-match press conference after the 2-0 win against Estrela da Amadora in the Primera Liga on Saturday night.

Sanusi had only played four matches this season for the Portuguese side before he joined Nigeria’s Super Eagles at the AFCON but started the game against Estrela.

But he could not finish the game as he was carried off on a stretcher after just 32 minutes, ruling him out of the game against Premier League club Arsenal in midweek.

Per Portugal-based outfit A Bola, the defender seems to have picked up a dangerous knee problem.

“In the 29th minute, in a run by André Luiz down the central corridor, Zaidu gains ground on the opponent and it is he who manages to intercept the shot, however, he comes out very complaining, with problems in his left knee,’ it wrote in a report on their website.
