Barcelona’s Golden Boy Gavi faces injury scare in Spain training

Barcelona have reportedly been hit with fresh injury woe with fears Gavi has picked up a problem on international duty with Spain

On Tuesday, Reports emerged that Gavi had suffered an injury during Spain training that day, which threatened his availability for La Roja’s crucial Euro 2024 qualifying matches against Scotland and Norway.

Barcelona would have been furious as well, given that Robert Lewandowski, Jules Kounde, and Lamine Yamal had all been injured in the preceding six days. Fortunately, their concerns have been allayed.

The infirmary is crowded, and both the coaching staff and the club’s medical personnel are nervous about the upcoming international break.

As a result, any news from the numerous national teams in which the club has players creates uncertainty.

That’s what happened at the Spanish national team’s training session on Tuesday, which the 19 year old cut short.

The Barça midfielder, along with Athletic forward Nico Williams, retired to the locker room a few minutes before the session ended, creating a flurry of speculation.

However as per Adria Albets, Gavi is fine. He suffered a blow during training which has caused him discomfort, but there is no injury.

Spain are set to take on Scotland this Thursday in the UEFA Euro 2024 qualifiers before facing off against Norway on Sunday. And there is a question mark on Gavi’s availability for those games at this point and the head coach Luis de la Fuente will make a late decision on his availability based on how well he recovers over the next 24 hours.

Barcelona will be hoping that Gavi does not aggravate the injury, as they are already battling in midfield with Pedri and Frenkie de Jong also out. They would most likely prefer that the 19-year-old miss the Scotland encounter as they will play Athletic Club, Shakhtar Donetsk, and Real Madrid in the space of a week after the international break.

With De Jong confirmed to miss those games, losing Gavi also would be a huge blow for Xavi Hernandez & co , but Spain will be desperate for him to play, given his importance.
