According to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are back in talks with Juventus to discuss a possible swap deal between strikers Romelu Lukaku and Dusan Vlahovic.
Juventus are keen on the Belgian forward with Massimiliano Allegri pushing to make the deal work. The Italian manager and the former Fiorentina striker are said to not having the best of relationship between them, with the striker struggling to show his best since moving to Turin 18 months ago.
The Bianconeri are hoping to convince Chelsea to pay at least €35-40m in order to close the distance between the market values of the pair.
After returning from the loan spell at Inter Milan, Lukaku was strongly linked with a move back to the San Siro, but, Inter dropped their interest in the Belgian to go after Westham’s striker, Scamacca after it was revealed that there’s been an interest from rivals Juventus.
Lukaku still retains interest from Saudi Arabia but the 30-year-old wants to remain in Europe and dreams of a return to Italy, where Juventus are his only viable suitors.
The Belgian’s representatives are now pushing hard for an agreement with Juventus and there is hope that the chance to sign Vlahovic, who managed ten goals in 27 Serie A outings last year, could help accelerate a deal.
Chelsea, on the other hand, has seen impressive performances from summer signings Jackson and Christopher Nkunku, with 21-year-old Armando Broja hopeful of a return later this year from his ACL injury.
In as much as the position looks filled, Vlahovic’s transfer would benefit the English club and Pochettino who would be given even more options in attack for the forthcoming season.
