Real Madrid joins Barcelona in the race for Benjamin Pavard

Could the 26-year-old world cup winner really become a solid reinforcement for either Laliga powerhouse's backline?

Benjamin Pavard becomes the latest entry in the list of players’ reinforcement for the Laliga champions but comes as a major concern as Barcelona has also been reported to enter the race for his signature.

The Bayern Munich and France defender has caught the sight of many football heavyweights across his professional career since his explosive breakthrough in the 2018 FIFA World Cup, hosted in Russia.

Many would believe the 26-year-old should have reached the peak of his career since leaving Stuggart for dominant local leaders, Bayern Munich but his certainty to continue with the Bavarians champions is quite uncertain.

According to a Sky Sports Germany journalist [Florian Plettenberg], Pavard’s exit cannot be ruled out as there is a holdback in the player signing a new contract. But in the meantime, the player’s representatives are meeting with the club for his extension.

There are also reports of the player’s relationship with manager Julian Nagelsmann at Bayern Munich gone sour.

Given the situation at hand, Barcelona have expressed their interest in the Frenchman, with recent reports suggesting that there had been contacts between the player and the club. The Catalan giants see him as a reinforcement at right-back, a position where they have faced a lot of issues.

However, Real Madrid’s entry might make life difficult for the Blaugrana. The La Liga champions are also looking for a new right-back and have Pavard on their radar, meaning Barcelona will have a battle at their hands to sign him.
