Sadio Mane ruled out of World Cup through injury

Sadio Mane ruled out of World Cup
According to reports, Senegal star man Sadio Mane is set to miss the World Cup in Qatar through injury.

The former Liverpool winger – who joined Bayern Munich in the summer, was forced off in Bayern Munich’s 6 – 1 demolition of Werder Bremen.

Jamal Musiala, Leon Goretzka, Mathys Tel and Serge Gnabry were all on the scoresheet but their win was soiled by the injury to Sadio Mane.

The Senegalese had to be subbed off in the 20th minute for Leroy Sane while the score line was 1 – 1.

After the match, Bayern Munich’s assistant coach Dino Toppmoller had suggested that the injury was minor, however head coach Julian Nagelsmann suggested that scans would determine the severity of the injury.

“That’s an unpleasant spot, it radiates a bit into the muscles,” Nagelsmann said. “I think he has to go to the X-ray to see if there is something there, because it is splintering easily. But I hope that nothing is wrong. I can’t say anything for sure yet.”

However, a report by French media outlet L’Equipe claim that Mane will now miss the Mundial which is a big blow to the chances of Senegal.

Senegal are in Group A alongside host nation Qatar, Netherlands, and Ecuador and have been tipped by many to qualify for the next round. However, the absence of Sadio Mane reduces their attacking threat significantly.
