Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United, and Newcastle United are among the clubs vying for West Brom goalkeeper Sam Johnstone in the summer transfer window.
According to the Daily Mail, Southampton and Scottish champions Rangers have both expressed interest in the England international. Johnstone, 29, is due to become a free agent this summer after talks over a new contract at the Hawthorns fizzled out.
As he attempts to solidify his position in Gareth Southgate’s England squad ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, the shot-stopper is eager to play at the highest level.
Following Saturday’s defeat to Stoke City, Bruce accepted defeat in his attempt to keep Johnstone at the Baggies beyond this summer.””It’s very likely that Sam will depart,”” he said.
“”However, I’ve seen enough of the youngster [Alex Palmer] and [David] Button to know that he’s a very, very good goalie.””
“”I’m pleased with him, and we’re in talks with him about next year, which I think will be productive.””
“”In that regard, we are fortunate. “”Right now, I’m thinking about letting the two go head-to-head.””
