Mason Greenwood granted bail after private hearing

Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood is set to be released from custody after his bail application was granted.

The 21-year-old was charged with attempted rape, assault and controlling and coercive behaviour.

Following a hearing at Minshull Street Crown Court in Manchester, a spokesperson said he had been granted bail. The bail comes with the condition that he does not contact witnesses, complainant, and must reside at an apartment on Bow Green Road in Bowden.

The Manchester United forward did not appear for the short hearing.

Mason Greenwood was re-arrested on Monday following a breach of his bail condition by allegedly contacting the victim.

Mason Greenwood faces three charges, all relating to the same alleged victim:

  • Attempting to rape a woman on October 22, 2021
  • Engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour between November 1, 2018 and October 15, 2022.
  • Assaulting a person thereby occasioning them actual bodily harm between December 12 and 31, 2021

The case has been adjourned to November 21.
