Sporting Lagos secures 3-0 victory past Kano Pillars as Junior Lokosa regains the spotlight in an encounter with his former side.

After enduring a slow start to the campaign, Sporting Lagos striker Junior Lokosa shone for Sporting Lagos when he faced his former side, Kano Pillars at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena yesterday evening.

The Badagry-born striker, who had just one goal after six matches hit top form netting a brace to help Sporting Lagos to an emphatic 3-0 win over Kano Pillars.

His first goal came in the 11th minute after a subtle cross from winger, Odibo found Lokosa in the box, who finished with his first touch in the match.

5 minutes later, Jonathan Alukwu, who’s been in scintillating form was then found in the perfect spot to rebound a loose ball palmed off the Kano Pillars goalie, taking his goal tally to “four in four” and putting Sporting Lagos two goals ahead in the match.

Then just before halftime, an incisive pass from Emeka at left-back, met Lokosa on the edge of the box, the striker made no mistake in firing us three goals ahead as we headed into the break.

The game progressed further in the second phase, with both teams coming close to scoring but both goalkeepers kept the game at bay, ensuring no goals was let in.

Yesterday’s goals meant Junior Lokosa now has three goals in three games, while as earlier stated, Jonathan Alukwu, four goals in four games.

Speaking in his post-match interview, coach Paul Offor commended the efforts of his team after putting up a strong farce against four-time NPFL champions.

The fact that we were able to keep a clean sheet today feels really good. I’m happy we scored and I’m happy with the performance.

On Junior Lokosa, he said:

I’ve never had doubts about him. What he does for us in the dressing room is the most important thing for me. He helps the young strikers in the team, like Jonathan and Okon score goals. That’s very important for me.

Sporting Lagos are now back to winning ways after losing their last game away to Kwara United. The win places them 6th on the log after match week 7, with three wins from a possible seven matches.

The Noisy Lagosians face Lobi Stars next Sunday, November 12th, in Nasarawa, and will be looking to pick on this form as they progress in the league.
