After a rather underwhelming Gameweek 28, Gameweek 29 presents an opportunity for mega hauls with 12 teams playing twice. Because of this, many FPL managers are set to activate various chips and incur points hit as they target the best assets for the double gameweek.
In subsequent paragraphs, our scout has identified the chips that could pay off massively and the players/teams with the best fixtures for the doubles.
FPL Gameweek 29: Possible Chips to Use and Why
Historically in Fantasy Premier League, double gameweek season is usually chips season. Here are some of the chips that could be used in Gameweek 29 and the advantages and disadvantages of using each.
Benchboost: While this is one of the most difficult chips to use, most elite FPL managers prefer to use it in the biggest double of the season. It makes sense to line up with a team of as much doublers in your starting XI and arrange your bench with a couple of single gameweek players with good matches. In fact, this gameweek is going to be the one where the most number of benchboost chips would be activated and it is not difficult to see why.

Wildcard: For those who have not used their second wildcard, this could be a good time to use it especially if you’re stuck with the likes of Robert Sanchez, Danny Ward, Miguel Almiron and Kelechi Iheanacho. This is because there is no guarantee of them starting any of their team’s double gameweek games and it might just be easier to sell them on a wildcard rather than taking numerous hits.
Free Hit: The Free Hit chip could work out fine in Gameweek 29 and could provide managers with an opportunity to target specific players and teams they consider to have the best fixtures. However, it is worth noting that there is another blank gameweek in 32 which could present a better option for the use of the Free Hit chip.
