FPL gameweek 22: Bruno Fernandes

The selections below are not limited to players from teams that play twice as some single gameweek players have the potential to score very high.

The following players could be worth bringing in for GW22:

Marcus Rashford (£7.2, 50.1% TSB, MID) VS CRY(H), LEE(H):

Marcus Rashford is arguably one of the most in-form players in world football at the moment. The England international is scoring for fun under Erik ten Hag and is having one of his best seasons since he turned pro, following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo in December 2022. The 25-year-old has returned in five of his last six league matches for Manchester United and with a double this week, there is no reason why you should not get him in if you do not already own him. With home matches against Crystal Palace and Leeds in gameweek 22, Rashford is set to be the most-captained player this week, with a good percentage of managers considering him for the Triple Captain chip.

Bruno Fernandes (£9.9, 9.3% TSB, MID) VS CRY(H), LEE(H):

Bruno Fernandes, like his teammate Rashford has also been rejuvenated under Erik ten Hag and has returned in each of his last six league matches. His ownership – which is a mere 9.3%, is expected to soar before the deadline. The Portuguese international has played occasionally as a part of the front three on the right wing and has benefitted from being closer to goal. In fact, many FPL managers are considering him as a differential captain alternative to Rashford. The home matches against Crystal Palace and Leeds bodes well for Fernandes, who could well return in both matches.

Kaoru Mitoma (£5.0, 6.8% TSB, MID) VS BOU(H):

Kaoru Mitoma is making a second consecutive appearance on our list of players to consider for the gameweek. The Japanese winger backed up his inclusion last week with a stunner against Leicester City as he finished the game with 10 FPL points. He followed this up with a wonderful piece of ingenious finish against Liverpool in the 92nd minute of their FA Cup clash last weekend and is set to face struggling Bournemouth who have lost all but one of their last five league matches. Mitoma has a very good chance of returning in this game and should be considered even ahead of some less-interesting double gameweek assets.

Wilfried Gnonto (£5.0, 1.1% TSB, FWD) VS NFO(A), MUN(A):

19-year-old Wilfried Gnonto is a joy to watch and while he has not delivered consistently in FPL, the double gameweek could be an opportunity for him to cash in on his underlying numbers. Priced at £5.0, Gnonto can come into FPL teams as an eighth or seventh attacker and will play in blank GW25. The match against Nottingham Forest especially is particularly appealing for the budget forward and a punt on him could well be worth it.
