FPL Gameweek 21: Emerging Differentials & Budget Options

We have identified some of the less-owned FPL assets who could be valuable acquisitions for FPL managers based on the difficulty of their upcoming fixtures and form.

N.B: Only players with 15% ownership or less are considered as differentials by our scout.

Below, we have written each player’s price, ownership, and fixtures for the next three gameweeks and reasons to consider buying them.

Leon Bailey (£4.5, 4.0% TSB, MID) vs SOU(A), LEI(H), MCI(A):

Priced at £5.0 at the start of the season, many FPL managers considered Leon Bailey as a potential gem. However, he has only returned on five occasions this season and has generally underwhelmed. Despite this, with three returns in his last seven starts, including two double-digit hauls in that time, Bailey has shown signs of resurgence. The arrival of Unai Emery has helped his game, with the Spanish manager a firm believer in his abilities. Bailey faces struggling Southampton who are bottom of the Premier League, and relegation-threatened Leicester City in his next two. The match away at Manchester City is certainly a tough one, but Bailey scored the last time both teams met in GW6 and there is no reason why he cannot do that again.

Evan Fergurson (£4.5, 1.4% TSB, FWD) vs LEI(A), BOU(H), CRY(A):

18-year-old Evan Ferguson has taken his chance at Brighton & Hove Albion and is now one of the most sought-after youngsters in the league. After making his debut in a seven-minute cameo in GW17 against Southampton, he has gone on to register a return in each of his last three Premier League games. In Brighton’s impressive 4 – 1 win over Everton, he scored one and provided an assist to record his first double-digit haul in FPL. The run of fixtures for Brighton between GW21 and GW29 looks very kind, and their in-form budget forward could benefit heavily during this period.

Kauro Mitoma (£5.0, 1.6% TSB, MID) vs LEI(A), BOU(H), CRY(A):

The Japanese winger is one of the most talked-about players in the Premier League at the moment. His performances for Brighton since becoming a starter in GW14 have been nothing short of phenomenal. The 25-year-old has blanked only once in the six league matches he has started and could benefit from Brighton’s next set of fixtures. At just £5.0, Mitoma potentially provides better value than most midfielders in and above his price point.

Sven Botman (£4.5, 5.3% TSB, DEF) vs CRY(A), BOU(H), WHU(A):

The appeal for a second Newcastle United defender is logical. They have kept the most cleansheets in the league this season and have prevented their opponents scoring in their last five. Most FPL managers already have Kieran Trippier (£6.0, 68.1%) and there are minimal gains from these cleansheets because of this reason. However, a Newcastle double-up in defense could be very beneficial to our ranks and Botman is just at the right price and ownership to take the gamble on. The Dutch defender has only blanked in two of his last 10 league matches and could also benefit from a kind run of fixtures.

N.B: An important point to note is that Brighton & Hove Albion and Newcastle could blank in GW25, if Newcastle United and Manchester United defeat their semi-final opponents in the Carabao Cup.
